Telemedicine and Connected Care

Bringing Specialist Care Closer to Every Patient

We are building a connected care model that links patients to specialists, supports remote clinical decision-making and enables institutions to extend their reach — safely, securely and equitably.

In Development

This service is currently in development. We are building the clinical governance frameworks, technology partnerships and institutional relationships required to deliver telemedicine responsibly. We welcome early conversations with hospitals, clinics and health networks.

The Challenge We Are Addressing

Uganda and East Africa face a significant specialist care gap. Patients in rural and peri-urban areas often travel long distances for consultations that could be conducted remotely. Institutions lack the infrastructure to extend specialist services beyond their physical walls. Tiba Neo's telemedicine model is designed to close this gap — not by replacing in-person care, but by making specialist input accessible where and when it is needed most.

What We Are Building

Our telemedicine model is designed around clinical safety, institutional accountability and patient dignity. Every component is being developed with governance and equity at its centre. Planned telemedicine pathways also include multidisciplinary case discussions, appropriate pre-operative assessment and coordinated follow-up. Specialist input would support the treating team in determining the next step, including further investigations or an in-person assessment when required.

Secure Virtual Consultations

Encrypted, clinician-to-clinician and clinician-to-patient video consultations — designed for low-bandwidth environments and compliant with patient data protection requirements.

Specialist Referral Networks

Coordinated pathways connecting referring clinicians to specialist consultants — with structured referral documentation, response protocols and outcome tracking.

Multidisciplinary Case Reviews

Structured case discussions allowing relevant specialists to contribute to complex clinical decisions — supporting the treating team with coordinated expert input across disciplines.

Pre-operative Assessment and Follow-up

Remote pre-operative review where clinically appropriate, and coordinated follow-up with the treating clinical team — reducing unnecessary travel while maintaining clinical oversight.

Clinical Governance Protocols

Teleconsultation standards, consent frameworks, escalation pathways and audit trails — including clear arrangements for escalation to physical examination, further investigations or in-person treatment when required.

Hospital System Integration

Integration with existing hospital information systems and electronic health records — ensuring telemedicine encounters are documented within the patient's clinical record.

Who This Service Is For

Hospitals and Clinics

Institutions seeking to extend specialist services to patients who cannot easily access in-person care, or to offer remote second opinions and specialist input.

Health Networks and NGOs

Organisations operating across multiple sites or in underserved areas who need a governed, scalable model for remote clinical support.

Specialist Clinicians

Consultants and specialists who want to extend their reach and provide remote input to referring clinicians and patients across Uganda and East Africa.

Institutional Health Services

Organisations with dispersed workforces or beneficiary populations — including employers, insurers and institutional health programmes — seeking remote clinical access for their people.

Our Approach

Clinical safety first

Every protocol is designed around patient safety and clinical appropriateness — telemedicine supplements, never replaces, in-person care where it is needed.

Low-bandwidth by design

We build for the infrastructure that exists in Uganda today — not the infrastructure that exists in high-income settings.

Data sovereignty

Patient data is governed under Ugandan law and institutional policy — we do not route clinical data through third-party systems without explicit governance approval.

Institution-led

Telemedicine works best when it is embedded in institutional workflows — we integrate with your systems and your people, not around them.
